Description

This spindle is designed and developed to promote sled control and predictability in technical backcountry terrain. This a product that will enhance your experience while in backcountry settings by improving durability, performance and control. This product is stronger and lighter than the OEM part it is intended to replace.

How it works. Improved sled control comes when a rider can bring the sled to its edge, maximizing the ability to carve a line through technical terrain. The Rasmussen Performance short ski spindle transfers sled weight from the ski to the front track shock, this will make the sled more playful and easier to bring to its edge. This also makes the sled easier to hold or balance on edge allowing the rider to carve effortlessly throughout the terrain.

The same result can be accomplished by extending the limiter strap of the front track shock. While this is something that one could consider, it will also cause the sled to be harder to control because of increased ski lift.

A secondary benefit to the Rasmussen Performance ski spindle is that the ski pivot bolt location has been moved in line with the pivot axis of the spindle. The OEM location of the ski pivot bolt hole is forward of the pivot axis of the ski spindle and can cause adverse consequences in certain riding conditions. High speed steering wobble can occur in conditions where a thin crust has developed, but not strong enough to support the weight of the sled during a high-speed run across a meadow. As the ski falls through the crust it can set up for a violent steering wobble.

I believe that having more control of my sled using less rider input will conserve energy allowing me to ride all day long without tiring. This ski spindle set does just that. Less rider input with more sled control equals more fun and longer days spent in the backcountry.

While others are building longer spindles for increased snow clearance, we are building parts that improve performance with proven results. Parts that provide a better experience doing what you enjoy most, sledding in the backcountry.
